You  Can't stop the beat

STUDENT PAGE

You Can't Stop the Beat is the showstopping song from the musical Hairspray. It was written by Marc Shairman and Scott Wittman. Set in the 1960s, this musical uses a range of music from the era including soul, rock'n'roll, rhythm and blues, and even rhumba. The musical addresses racial intolerance and other injustices of the time in an entertaining way, using a comedic script with lots of funny one-liners.

In this unit of work, we will be exploring this song through the concept of Duration, specifically rhythm.
